WELSH CIVIL SERVANTS WIN INTERNET AWARD Staff at Companies House, based in Cardiff, are celebrating winning the Accountancy Age Award for Best Use of the Internet by the Public Sector. Companies House’s introduction of online registration services and the growth of its website have coincided with what Accountancy Age called “a huge surge in company registrations.” Companies House has been able to register more than a million companies online in the last five years because its internet has made processes simpler and cut red tape. Accountancy Age said: “This improvement in access to government services makes the website a significant milestone in the government’s ambition to deliver services online.” The Award judges found the site “hugely impressive: an excellent example of good project management, being tested before reaching the public.” Welcoming the award, Claire Clancy, Chief Executive at Companies House, said: “ We have worked very hard to produce a site which is easy to use and allows us to deliver a public service efficiently. We have included business users in the design and development of our online services and ensured that they include security measures which help to protect companies against corporate.
